Our 20th Anniversary Celebration: Thank you for a smashing success!

HISTORY/HER STORY: Exhibition of New Mexico Women Photographers

The New Mexico Committee was thrilled to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary as an organization devoted to showcasing women artists from all across our state with HISTORY/HER STORY, an exhibition of work by contemporary New Mexico women photographers. Our featured photographers were Abbey Hepner, Jessamyn Lovell, Delilah Montoya, Cara Romero, Kali Spitzer, and Laurie Tumer.

A number of the artist talks and panel events were videotaped. Check them out on our YouTube channel. Here are just a few of the many comments we received about the exhibition.

The vision of the New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts is so important. I have been working in the Arts for many years as a production assistant, working artist, and educator. Frankly, most of the successful artists that I have met are men. Why? Because more communities, like your organization, who seek to support women artists are needed. Thank you so much for all your interest, motivation and support. Delilah Montoya, Chicana Artist; University of Houston, Professor of Art

We visited the David Richard Gallery this morning and viewed the Women in New Mexico photography exhibit. Parts of it were tough, but all were engaging and artistically original. Congrats to you and your organization for putting on an exhibition that confronts one's conscience. Gene K.

Thank you so much for all the work you did to make HISTORY/HER STORY happen. I am so honored to be part of this literally radioactive event! I love the space and how beautifully the show was arranged by Richard and David -- they have been wonderful to work with. I love the uniqueness of each participant's work. I have never been in a show with this degree of cultural diversity and it is for me noteworthy and so appreciated. I love the fabulous catalog that you and your staff created! JUST WOW! I'm loving the amazing panels and videotaping to make these available online. And I love that you are involved in the efforts to make New Mexico women artists seen and heard. Brava! Laurie Tumer, Photographer

Our work is made possible because of people like you who join us in our commitment to support, strengthen and showcase the unique voices of New Mexico women artists. Thank you for your support of this exhibition and for your generosity to our organization.
