"What got me into drawing mythical tales was that I grew up reading comics that are made in Japan that had lots of fantasies, action, and drama. I fell in love with the style of manga (comics from Japan) artists that I wish to emulate, especially one manga artist that shares the same culture as New Mexico culture. Since my Dad is an artist, and loves street art and tattooing, I’m inspired by his style as well.
I love to work with acrylic paints and inks because they create an airbrush texture that my Dad loves to do, and it’s similar to how he tattoos his customers. His art encourages me to keep working on my paintings. It would be so awesome to be the first person from my community to make a full-length animated film with my art skills, and that is what I hope to learn from studying at Northern."
