Mission and Vision
The New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts was established in 1997 to support the mission of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and to bring recognition to the achievements of New Mexico women artists in the visual, digital, performance, and literary arts.

We are committed to advancing the voices, perspectives, and stories about culture and life that New Mexico women artists contribute to our society and to the world by
  • offering opportunities for exposure through special events, art shows, lectures, educational programs, and our many diverse "Artful Afternoons."
  • providing financial support and resources through our Scholarship and Women to Watch programs
  • promoting fundraising and membership activities that enable like-minded individuals to support New Mexico women artists
  • raising awareness of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and its unique mission
Our mission is to support and promote women artists from all over our state. We have scholarship winners from Abiqui and Anthony. Our 2018 Women to Watch include artists from Cordova and Galisteo, Nambe and Cerrillos. Our programs have featured women artists from Albuquerque and La Puebla, Taos and Peñasco and Santa Fe.

Our vision is that every New Mexico woman in the arts reaches her potential and achieves recognition. Regardless of where you are in New Mexico or where you are in your career, we believe that by amplifying the voices of New Mexico women artists we help others see the world with deeper understanding of and appreciation for our common experiences and our unique perspectives.
