Artist Statement

For the last five years I’ve been working with high quality papers to create my (mostly) representational artwork. New Mexico landscapes, flora, fauna and culture are what move me to create. I am driven to glue paper to art board so that I and those who support and follow my work can hang a piece of New Mexico within their living space. The parts of New Mexico people return to again and again whether in their dreams or through actual travel can now follow them home.

Artist Bio

Rebecca Anthony was born in the suburbs of Denver and spent most of her childhood outside. Her paternal grandmother had a cabin near Evergreen that had no running water and an outhouse. Her maternal grandmother lived nearby in the suburbs, let Rebecca take bubble baths and painted her fingernails bright pink.

Rebecca lives in New Mexico outside of Mountainair and somehow balances her life between composting toilets and pedicures; creating masterpieces and chopping wood.
