"Gaze deeply into Sandy Keller's luminous paintings and allow the imagination to take flight." Emily Van Cleve (Focus Magazine)
Sandy Keller is an American contemporary painter living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her love for animals and the earth that they roam is unending.
"We are really just the custodians of all living things and their domain. I hope to bring their importance in our world to the forefront. The Imaginarium is actually a Cabinet of Curiosities and Possibilities....devoted to all animals that I envision and my art is about elevating the animal spirit and allowing us to become the dreamers!"
Growing up in Colorado, Keller would often go to her uncle's horseback riding stables; the horses there were instrumental in her memories of their strength, beauty, and gentle eyes. "In an animal's eyes we are able to see their emotions, from happiness to fear." Keller feels that "the eyes have it", and that "they let us into the soul of a being and feel life!"
After painting in acrylic for many years in a more abstract quality, Keller has returned to her old love of oil painting as it better suits what she is trying to convey. With a contemporary uncluttered background, the relevance of the central image is paramount.
